Robert Leslie was born in Dornoch in 1873, son of Neil Leslie, mason and Johan Mackay.
Elspeth Mackenzie, Torbreck, Rogart, is the daughter of Colin Mackenzie and Margaret Robertson. She is a great, great granddaughter of Colin Mackenzie and Barbara Gordon.

Robert, a mason, and Elspeth, a domestic servant, married at The Royal Hotel, Dingwall on 10 December 1909. Witnesses were Donald Leslie and Chrissie Mackenzie. This lovely photograph above was given to me by Margaret Grant, their daughter during a visit to her in 2005. I used my second hobby of scrapbooking to create what you see above.
Elspeth and Robert lived at Clash-na-Grave, Badninish, Dornoch. Robert, a crofter, died of tuberculosis in 1915. Elspet died at Clashnagrave, aged 90 years in 1970. They are buried in Golf Road cemetery, Dornoch.
They had the following children:
NEIL LESLIE born 11th October 1910 [died 12th November 1933 Lawson Memorial Hospital, Golspie – buried with parents]
MARGARET ANN LESLIE born 6th July 1913 Dornoch [married James Grant – had a daughter who currently lives in Sutherland] – Margaret still lives in Dornoch (2006).
ROBERT NEIL LESLIE born 16th April 1916 [died 11th July 1977 aged 61 years – buried with parents and his wife] [married Isabella Sutherland and had a son Neil Leslie] – signed mother’s death certificate in 1970 – Annie Mackenzie, aunt, was informant at Robert’s death.
